--Intro-- We got quite a bit of work done with the art department! However we are still looking for an animator. Also the demo should be much more polished with a better tutorial. --Jeremy H-- I've been working primarily on art this month. I started and finished the ground tiles as well as some walls(just cave walls).
And all the tiles right here! --Jim-- Jim made some pretty cool concept art but nothing actually for the game. --Alex-- Alex is our new PR person! He's been working on increasing the number of followers we have and keeping up with our twitter account! --Conclusion-- Most of the team has been quiet this month. Anthony has been working on some tile-sets and should have them done soon. I will be focusing on level design and more with art this month! Hopefully the demo next month should have even more content! And this months demo will be out on the 1st, as always! Thanks for tuning in and we will see you guys next month!

--Intro-- We don't have alot of pictures to show but we do have an extra special surprise this month ;). Ive been hard at work with mostly code stuff but the game is now running (almost) stably. --Jim-- Jim pushed out a better version of the book as shown bellow. He's also trying to get a schedule to work on the game more! --Jeremy F-- Jeremy pushed out a new song for battles / bosses. It can be listened to at the following link. https://soundcloud.com/jeremyfleischman/boss-battles-n-fights/s-42AMI --Alex-- Alex is back! He is now working as PR. He has gotten several streamers to agree to stream our game once its done! :) --Jeremy H-- Last but not least, I've been working primarily on code. But I also made a couple maps bigger. However I finally managed to push out a VERY VERY early alpha demo! This demo will be available for download on the 1st of the month as will all future demo iterations. To make things more interesting I set up the dungeons so the player can not leave until he finds the key to the next level. --Conclusion-- We got a lot done this month, unfortunately it was mostly stuff that does not have pictures. Next month we will be adding a weapon upgrade system and more crafting as well as adding more game play. Thanks and don't forget to tune in next month! --Special thanks-- Raine Lee- For donating 20$! Thanks dude, you're awesome :)
--Intro-- I'm glad to say we've had a very productive week! We are getting very close to the public demo and hope to have it out soon. --Jeremy H Mostly what I have done is bug squashing. I fixed up the inventory menu and also changed the font, this one should hopefully be more readable. In addition to the I revamped the HUD. I am also working on different status effects that should effect combat in different ways. The current status effects I have come up with are as follows: Poisoned: loose health every turn / second. Diseased: All stats receive a penalty. Cursed: Luck and health receive a penalty and mana is completely drained. Tired: All stats receive a small penalty. Thirst: Unable to drink potions or eat food. Insane: Not sure about this one. Maybe make it have to do with talking to people? Charisma reduced maybe? As you can see I added a player portrait in the top left corner. This will change with status effects (I will make it less ugly later, I promise) I have also added quite a few new areas. I don't want to show them however, that would spoil it ;) For the next 2 weeks I will be focusing on bug squashing again. The bellow bug shows that the chests are not effected by light(there is no light in this room). At the end of this 2 weeks we should have an alpha demo ready for you to enjoy! :) --Jeremy F-- Has been working on more music for the game. He finished a pretty good piece for roaming around the forest which we will wait till you get the demo for you to hear ;). I don't want to spoil too much for you guys! --Mike-- Is still working on the male sprites. We are making it as a 3d model and then converting it into a 2d model for the game. --Josh-- Josh helped find a couple sounds here and there. --Jim-- Jim has been in out of town doing work for his Dad. He has also been drawing concept art which I hope will make it to next weeks blog! --Conclusion--After the demo goes out we will start working primarily and artwork. We plan to double the resolution of the whole game to 64 (its currently 32). Also to help fund us for better equipment i put an Ad on the link to the blog. If you guys don't like that and have a better suggestion the shoot me an email. With the public demo right around the corner we hope you guys stay tuned! --Intro-- Hey there. It's been a while. After a month of dormancy we are finally back, and working harder than ever! --Jeremy H-- Ive got alot done in the last month! But most isn't picture worthy :/ Firstly I revamped the inventory. It's still a bit rough but it at least works right now and it shows your equipment and allows you to remove it(unlike the previous version) I also added a function where you can press X to switch back and forth between your ranged and melee weapon. This should add a new dynamic to the gameplay. Lastly i have an early version of torches! When its further along he will actually be holding it hopfully, but the lighting system supports it pretty well! Bug fixing is the rest I've done, and there were ALOT of bugs to fix. --Mike-- No pictures to show for this blog but we did take in interesting curve. We decided the make the characters 3d models and export them as 2d sprites. This should save us a little time and open up the possibility for later games to be 3d. --Jeremy F-- Has been busy with work. But should be writing songs once again! --Jim-- Unfortunately Jim's power supply broke so hes been out of action for a good month, hes been drawing quite a bit of concept art however which should surface next blog update. --Conclusion-- I (Jeremy H) am nearly done with scripting the systems. I just need to add magic to the game and then i can help the Art guys with their stuff to move us along better. Once again thanks for reading ;)
--Intro--We have a lot of cool stuff to show for this blog update! Feels like its been forever too! --Jeremy H--I finished 2 new weapon sets (iron and bronze). I also finished the Escape menu. I am also almost done with the inventory. For the next month I will be getting started on the combat system, which may take a while. It should be comparable to Fallout 1 and 2 or Might and Magic. --Jim V--Jim finished 2 versions of the interface book. Which do you think we should use? Jim will be working on inside clutter objects this next month. --Jeremy F--Jeremy finished 1 song and has 2 more on the way and they sound great! We will have them shown on the next update. --Mike M--Unfortunately Mike misunderstood me about how to make the sprites. He is therefore currently in the process of remaking the sprites. So far the right side is what he has done. The problem was the engine adds hair, eyes, and clothe on its own, but poor ole Mike drew the sprites with clothes and hair :(. Hopefully Mike will have the sprite done by the end of the month however. --Conclusion--We really have a lot of cool stuff in motion. Next month we should hopefully have a combat demo (video) and a playable demo the month after that. I will also try to start keeping up on social media again because I haven't been very well :(. Anyways see you next month!
--Intro--We didn't get a whole lot done since the last update unfortunately. This blog is just excuses so you can skip this one if you want :( --Jeremy H--I quit my old job and took a vacation for a few days. Now I'm back and I'm getting a new job working IT! Yay! --Mike--Has been finalizing the sprite for the game but other than that I haven't heard much from him. --Jim--Jim just got his computer running again. We should see some more from him in the coming days. --Conclusion--I wish I had more to show for this blog, but by the end of next month we should have a nice big juicy one for you ;). Don't forget to tune in on 10/31/15 for the next blog update!
--Intro--Work has been going well! I've been picking up the interfacing very well, and Mike has some awesome stuff in store for us! --Jeremy--I finished the Inventory screen. It just needs the background(the current one is just a placeholder). Jim should have it done in a few days. MikeMike has been working the Male sprite animation and is getting close! --Conclusion--Next week I think the blog will be a bit better. We should have stuff from mostly everyone! See ya next week! ;)
P.S. Invite your friends the the Catarax FB page! It helps keep us motivated :) --Intro--Hey guys it's been a while!! I have been hard at work! You ready for this bad-ass blog!? --Jeremy--I figured some stuff out and decided that weapons will be categorized via tiers and the nation it belongs to. For example a steel gladius will be a Tier 3 Annoran Sword. All weapons in game will be craftable also. Also on top of that I finished on the Annoran tier 3 weapon set. In addition to that I made the title screen. I also made a few extra areas. And my finally contribution is I brought on 2 new people! Mike and Alex. They will be helping with the artwork and you will hopefully be hearing more from them soon enough! :D --Jeremy Fleischman--Good ole curly made a pretty cool song that we will probably play for the intro to the game, you can check it out(along with his other work) here. https://soundcloud.com/jeremyfleischman/theme/s-A7J7t --Conclusion--Well that's all I've got for today. I think we have some great things in store so stay tuned ;)
--Intro--I have some good and bad news this week. Good news is the Catarax Modpack server was released and is now running wonderfully! Bad news is until we get an animator, work on the game will cease. --Calling for help--IF you or someone you know is interested in animating for Catarax and has the time to do so then please contact me at [email protected]. If you want to see our games come to life then we need your help! --Modpack--I managed to get the server running a few days ago, and I pushed out a new version of the modpack as well. For starters the new update adds the GLSL shader mod. What does this mean? Well instead of this You get this... It's amazing what lighting can do to improve video quality! On another I made the modern and WW2 weapon boxes far more difficult to craft, and to balance that I added a Old weapons box which is easy to make and allows the player to build older weapons. Additionally the server is holding a limited time event. There will be a Treasure Hunt with a large prize for the person who finds the treasure first! So be quick! --Conclusion--I hate that we can't work on the game but obviously I am staying productive. Not much else to say, join the server and have a good one! :D
--Intro--For our 10th blog post we have some interesting stuff! --Jeremy--I've been pretty busy! First off I've been working on the controls(it's not as easy as you might think) and right now I don't anything showable for that :(. Also on the side I am working on setting up a new minecraft server for donations and of course fun! If you're interested then click on the picture bellow! :) --Jim--Jim has been "slaving" away at the walking animation and has something presentable! Not bad huh? It's a work in progress. Also he WILL have arms and a face eventually, I promise. --Mathew--Mathew made a work in progress logo! It looks pretty nice too! Of course it can be seen on the website already XP --to Luke--A big shout-out to one of our first fans, Luke! Next blog update I will have something awesome for you! :D --Conclusion--Interesting stuff going on this week! By the end of this month we should have the walking animations done as well as the controls. At which point i will be able to begin level design! See you next week! XP
