Well bad news! It was a pretty slow week so we don't have a whole lot to show for it :(. So to make it up to you me and Jim made something kind of cool! A pseudo-trailer if you will! Enjoy! :) Keep in mind that everything about the trailer is a work in progress. The finished product will have game play and will be a bit longer. That's all we have for this week! --Intro--What's up? Guess who lost all of their data again? Yup that's right! I did! But fret not! I remade everything. Also surprise plot twist! Jim actually did something! Also I will try to do the blog updates regularly again XP. --Jeremy--I managed to redraw everything again. This time I will BE SURE to keep everything on our google cloud. Here is the new artwork. That's all I have gotten so far. I also set time goals for everyone to meet. Mine is to finish with all of the windows, doors, and terrain by 4/27/15. --Jim--Yay! Jim actually did something!!! He will have to lighten the pixels later but pretty good huh? --Conclusion--We have some good stuff going on! I didn't mention the other people who didn't do anything this time XC. Me and Jim are quitting our jobs which are demanding our time. So we have some great stuff coming in the future! Also Jim finished the logo too! It should be on the front page now :)
--Intro--Well here we are, back to work on the game. Not much in this blog as we just started work back up. Just a few decisions we recently made. --Jeremy--Me and Jim decided to try working on higher resolutions again. So I am going to have to redraw everything.... Again... I'm going to get good at this eventually! I will also start working on a video series of how to use engine001 (eventually). Here is a picture of the new terrain. I haven't finished with it quite yet though. Aaaaand a before / after of the old to the new. Not too bad i think. Just needs a little bit of polishing. I plan to make the edges less square here pretty soon XC --Jim--Jim got a drawing tablet! Woooo! That means Jim has absolutely no excuse to not do his work! Yipee!! --Raine--Was gay... Is gay... and always will be..... gay.... Raine will be meeting with me and Jim to help do a more advanced storyboard as well as some character development! --Hanna--Will be helping draw up a better and less generic logo than the one we have at the moment. Also might animate an intro for Catarax Videos! :D --Austin--WILL be getting a job soon, WILL BE GETTING INTERNET SOON, and WILL BE HELPING WITH THE MUSIC AND SOUNDS SOON. But until then Austin is working on a jingle for the intro to Catarax Videos! :D --Conclusion--That's about it! Hopefully we will have some cool stuff coming up soon so stay tuned!
---Intro---Sorry guys I've been pretty busy this week! So this blog will be pretty short :/. Also despite Jim being a Mexican Captain, he is with us again. --Jeremy--No more black boxes or other ugliness! :D All the tiles fit together! Also here is a conecpt map I did for the main game (not the one we are working on). --Jim--Jim made his Spooby Monster. I personally think he is just misunderstood. --Raine--Wrote a beautiful piece about the Horspacalypes! "Horsepocalypse: the second hooving. After three strait days of hard marching, we had finally made it to Meadows Field. Most of the men were either drinking or resting, meanwhile I was in my tent discussing the next day's battle plans with Cmdr. Wolfe. Then, there was a sound of thunder. Wolfe didn't pay any never mind to this, considering the weather was on the verge of being drizzly, I on the other hand, was made uneasy. Not long afterwards.. the Horses came. By the platoon, the battalion, the herd! they came all over us! We were besieged beyond all hope, most of the men died in their sleep, having their brains dashed out by the stomping of hooves. Like a coward, I hid in the tent while Wolfe went out to fight. After ten minutes of the most agonized screams I've ever heard, one of the Horse Captains entered into the tent with me. "Why are you here!?" I panicked, furiously wetting myself "if it's my life you want, for the love of the gods, take it then!" "Neigh" he replied grimly "You shall not be granted death, you will run home to your people and tell them everything of what you have seen here today. Tell them how mighty and terrible the Horse army is" I regret every breath I have taken since that day." --Hanna-Had ALL the schoolwork to do. --Conclusion--Sorry, not much content in this blog :/. Also The fb page doesn't have a whole lot of followers despite twitter having quite a few! So don't forget to like and follow! ^_^
--Intro--Hello people! Long time no see huh? Well in our absence of speaking we lost our art guy(not that he was doing anything in the first place). It's sad to see Jim go I know, he made funny posts and stuff, but we don't really need that. We need people who are willing to GET STUFF DONE. On that note we have a new art person (not a head art person yet). I also made some progress on the game. --Jeremy--The Good is I made a lot of progress on drawing stuff. Engine001 features this cool thing called tile-terraformation which makes the tiles blend together better, but its a pain in the @^% to set up. On the right is just some other stuff I made and the hilariously drawn figure standing next to the door will not be featured in the game unfortunately, he's just there as a place holder. The picture's captions have more info. The Ugly is ALMOST as ugly as Raine..... LOL JK RAINE <3 It looks like this because I am bad at tile-terraformation and mostly because I only did half of it (so far) --Raine--Raine hasn't done too much as of late. Today he will be giving Hanna a run-through of the games setting and current story. --Hanna--Will be introduced and briefed later today. Welcome to Catarax Hanna! ^_^ --Conclusion--Well 1 step forward right? It's progress and hopefully our new member will help too. Also don't forget to partake in the drawing contest! --Intro--Well this weeks post is some bad news :(. We can't draw in higher resolutions than 32!!!! What does this mean? Well the artwork isn't going to look quite as good. Why? Well the engine doesn't work to well with objects that have a higher resolution. Instead of shrinking objects down to one tile like the ground and wall, instead they make them take up several tiles, producing something like this. --Jeremy--So basically I had to redraw EVERYTHING in 32*32 -_-. With this being a lower resolution it doesn't quite look as good. But on the bright side it is quite a bit easier. The left is the previous and the right is the new. Not too bad right? We can work around this :) --Jim--Jim unfortunately doesn't know how to pixel art. Which means that he wont be able to draw in 32*32. It's really harder than it looks. But there are these awsome things called books which you can read and learn things! You know, kinda like in skyrim. Who would have thunk it? Tile-sets and walls and random objects like fences and barrels are pretty easy because they don't have all that much detail. But when you get to monsters or people is when it gets tricky. --Jaime--Haven't had a chance to talk to Jaime this week, but he's probably still working on the same stuff as last week. --Raine--Learned how to use Google cloud! So Raine will be able to upload story ideas up to the Catarax cloud when he gets ideas! Unfortunately his internet is down and he is moving out of his parents, so he's been busy needless to say --Conclusion--Yep, major setbacks :/. However I believe we can work around these setbacks. Making games isn't easy, but we are determined to do it :)
IntroGreetings and salutations! It's been a while, but that's ok, I still love you all just as much. Here let me just err... uhhh.... TOTALLY NOT fondle your balls..... But for really some awesome things are happening :) --Jeremy--Jeremy: Found a new drawing program for the game. The first picture was some tile sets I drew on paint.net, the second is tile sets I drew on the new GIMP2. You can see the awsomeness :) These are just 2 tile textures (kinda 3 actually). This took about 4-5 hours of work on paint.net Here there are 6 different tile sets. Each one took 10- 40 minutes on GIMP2. I also started on the interface, which is really difficult for someone who doesn't really know how to code, but I'm getting it so far. --Jim--What rhymes with hay? That's right! You guessed it! Tray... Which means Jim hasn't done shit.... Ok Ok to be fair Jim has been teaching me how to art as well as giving constructive criticism. --Raine--Between work and school and joining full metal jacket, our good buddy Raine has yet to do much as of late. But that's ok. We don't need to work on quests at the moment anyways. --Jaime--James Blades is working on music. Currently he is working on the title music and will later work on a jingle for the Catarax Logo! --Conclusion--Overall with work and school it is hard to work on the game but we are starting to make progress! Jim Villanueva: Drew up some more concept art and made more progress on the logo. Also was gay. Jeremy Hardesty: Other than being a bad @$$, wrote and finished story board for first "DLC". Also drew up basic concept of main menu and basic weapon style of the games Kingdoms. Austin Crownover: Messed with some music stuff I don't know much about. Also drew up a cool demonic symbol. Raine Lee: Helped with story board. Drew up some art. Admitted undying love for Austin. Overall we got a lot done, mostly in the story creation area. Jim has been too preoccupied with his *ahem* questionable pass times... I decided that we are only going to post blog updates every Thursday. Thanks for keeping up with us! See you next time ;)
